“Music ~ Is What Feelings Sound Like”
George Story has been a musician since he was five years old when his parents started him with classical organ lessons in the hope he would one day become a church organist. He studied organ and music until he was thirteen years old, the benchmark his mother had set because of his complaints of boredom. He turned thirteen and stepped away from the keyboard not to touch it again until much later in life. However, music did not leave him. He worked at taking on the guitar; his theory was simple, it is very hard to carry an organ to the beach, even if you do have a truck.
The guitar has remained his instrument of choice. In 1970 while working in a sheet metal shop, an industrial accident nearly took the music away from him forever, but he pushed himself to play, first with only three fingers and then after a tendon graph in 1971, he worked very hard at making the ring finger on his left hand cooperate and make limited melodic sounds. He did not get discouraged.
As a rhythm guitarist he generally sang lead in every band he worked with. Now he performs in smaller venues, mostly for not-for-profit organizations raising money and for even smaller audiences at adult day care programs, health care facilities and senior centers. As a senior himself, he has a great time performing and loves it when everyone goes away happy and humming to themselves.
